MY GAP YEAR PLAN
Ahh, fresh out of high school. And the big question is… now what happens?
|
Well, my plan is different from most of my fellow graduates. Near the end of my second year of high school, my mother told me, “I think you should take a gap year after high school.”'. At first, I did not like the idea of a gap year because I did not know what it was. That was my first thing hearing something other than college and it scared me. So a little background on why I was scared. I started school a year earlier than when I was supposed to. But I always thought that it was right that I was a year ahead of the game. I made some of my closest friends during my years in high school, but I know I would not have made them if I was in my correct year; which would be a year below them.

After talking to my mother and doing more research about gap years, I thought that it was a good idea. Since I don’t know what I want to do with the rest of my life yet, it would be a waste to go to college. When people asked me what I was going to do after high school and I replied with “Oh, I’m taking a gap year.”, I would always get mixing responds. It was kinda like half and half. People would either say “Oh my god! That’s so amazing. I wish I did that!” or it would be “Oh… that’s special.”.

So during my gap year, I am traveling to three places: Canada (two months in Toronto, one week in Montreal, and five weeks in Vancouver), Australia, and California (going to be in Los Angeles the whole time). Three months in each place. One of my main goals of this year is showing people that there is more out there than college. Needing time to find yourself is okay. Not going to college is okay. I will be doing online schooling at Boston University. I will be filming my times and putting it on Youtube.
