New Habits I've Been Trying

New Habits I've Been Trying

NUMBER 1: DRINKING A CUP OF GREEN TEA EVERY DAY

Now I have never been much of a tea drinker; I always thought it tasted like grass. But after doing some more research about all the great benefits of green tea, I had to try it. Green tea is made from unoxidized leaves & is one of the less processed types of tea. It, therefore, contains the most antioxidants & beneficial polyphenols. Some of the benefits that I have read are that this tea has bioactive compounds, improves brain function, kills bacteria, & helps inflamed skin.

I started drinking it for it’s antibacterial and skin-soothing claims. I strongly believe that it has been helping my oral health. My skin is still inflamed but not as much as before. I add a tablespoon of honey with my tea for a little sweetening.

NUMBER 2: WASHING MY FACE WITH HONEY

Like I said before, my skin has been inflamed & covered in bumps. After looking on youtube for some help, I came across this video of a woman washing her face with raw honey. After doing some research online, honey is actually a really good cleanser for everyone who wants to use it. I really like how this website explains it. Go check it out. One thing that I learned from this website is that honey is a natural antibacterial agent. It dosen’t dry of my skin or leaves my face feeling tight. Instead, my face feels soft & nourished.

NUMBER 3: NOT EATING BREAD IN THE MORNING

I was watching a video on youtube about our skin & what happens inside our bodies to make us break out. If you know anything about what can cause people to break out, you know that carbs can be a factor. I learned from this video that when you eat bread in the morning, you are most likely to want more throughout the day.

NUMBER 4: DRINK ‘STRIPPER WATER’ AS THEY CALL IT

I’m only ever on the well-known app, TikTok, for life hacks & information that I did not know about life. As I was one the app one day, I came across a video about someone making ‘stripper water’. Then these videos just kept on popping up. Basically, it’s just detox water filled with lemons, mangos, & raspberries. This drink is meant to help with vaginal health.

NUMBER 5: DRINKING 2 LITERS OF WATER A DAY

One problem that I have been having is not drinking enough water pre-day & end up getting dehydrated. The most that I would drink is 3 to 4 cups at most when we’re supposed to drink at least 8 cups. Getting a 1-liter water bottle has helped me keep track of what I’m drinking.

NUMBER 6: Wearing SPF every day

I’ve heard a lot of people saying “black people don’t need to wear sunscreen.”, which is a myth. Everyone needs to wear SPF. Not only does SPF help protect us from sun cancer, but it helps with our skin problems. If you are dealing with hyperpigmentation or using chemical exfoliates in your skincare routine, SPF helps to protect the skin. If you don’t wear it, you can hurt your skin more & cause a chemical burn.
