Victoria BC: Places to Go

Victoria BC: Places to Go

So after being on the island of Victoria BC for a month, I have seen a lot of what this beautiful place has to offer. So in this blog post, I’ll be sharing some of my favorite places that I have gone to.

Ferries

Since Victoria is an island, people take the ferry a lot. Whether if it’s to Vancouver to Salt Spring, the ferry is a time to relax and take in the fresh air. Since I have one more week here, I’m planning a trip over to Salt Spring; which is only a 45-minute ferry ride. Unlike the ferry ride to Vancouver which is an hour and a half. But the ferry had some things to do on it, like a seafood buffet and a big gift shop. But the sights are beautiful. I wish I am able to post my own pictures on here but this some bug going on that I have to fix.

Chinatown

Victoria has the oldest Chinatown in all of Canada. It is also the second oldest in North American. So this is a place that is worth seeing. When I first go there, I realized that it was only one block. But the small-block has a lot to offer and is filled with cute alleyways with different shops and restaurants.

Butchant’s Gardens

Butchant’s Gardens is like the Eiffel tower of Victoria BC. So what I mean by this is if you do not go there while you're in Victoria, it’s like you were never in Victoria at all. Butchant’s Gardens is a beautiful place filled with waterfalls, plants, flowers, trees, and ponds. There is quite some stuff to do there. Like watching plays outside during the summer, ice skating near the entrance during the winter, and having a nice meal at The Blue Poppy Restaurant. The Japanese garden and the Succin garden were my favorite places.

Goldstream Provincial Park

Now, I’ve never really been a hiking kind of girl. But one of my goals when coming to Vitoria was to do one. So I was happy that I found out about Goldstream. It takes about 2 hours to hike the whole trail but the sights are beautiful. There is a nice waterfall that I saw and the fresh air just puts me in a better mood. But the real hidden treasure is an old railway bridge crossing high above the Niagara Canyon. You have to be careful while being around this area though. But I highly recommend going on the trail for a nice, chill workout.
